Location

By the road that from Begues climbs to the “Punt Sud” power plant located at the Pla de Basses Roses, once we are level with the Pla del Cirerer a path comes out on the right that goes towards the Pla d'Ardenya; at the point where the path passes underneath and right next to an electricity pylon, already in the Pla de Sot d'Óssos, we must take a path on the left that in a few metres will lead us to a large doline in the very middle of which is the avenc Gran de les Alzines; 5 metres to the NE we find the tiny mouth of the esquerda de les Alzines.

Description

Morphology

A little more than -4 metres deep the initial small shaft bifurcates, one of the branches ends at -9'50 metres, the other reaches a narrow four-shaped laminador at -9 metres from the mouth, from here another 5 metres, quite narrow, can be descended, placing us at -14 metres. The cavity seems to continue but extremely narrow.

History

The first exploration was carried out by the GES del CMB down to a depth of -7 metres.

With the desobstruction of the nearby avenc Gran de les Alzines, it was thought that the esquerda became part of the previous cavity; later, once the area had been cleaned, it was observed that the esquerda was still there.
