Characteristics

Location

On the BV-2441 road in Pontons and above Km 11.5, take the paved track heading towards La Llacuna and travel a distance of 4Km until reaching the col beside the Masia de Ca l'Aleix; at this point leave the asphalt to follow a new dirt track heading downhill towards the SE for 750m to a junction of tracks; at this point leave the vehicle and continue on foot along the same track heading SE for 60m, at which point leave the track to the right towards a marked stone slope.

The cave is about 80m from the track, climbing both the stone slope and the first gully of the cliff.

Taking the Cova-Avenc del Mas de Pontons as a reference, the cavity in question lies about 40m to the NNW and 14m higher.

Description

Morphology

Cavity formed from the faults existing at the edge of the cliff. The second section, transverse to the entrance, ends at its N end in 2 impenetrable squeezes; and at its S end in a descending fissure that finally proves impenetrable and among boulders.

Progression

Access is via a fault about 6m high; shortly along the route some boulders prevent comfortable access to the cavity, and we must progress over the boulders to gain access after a small downward step into the widest section of the cavity.

History

In October 2019 Jordi Navarro and Montse Mañosa (Centre Excursionista Castellar) visited it and carried out the survey.
