Characteristics

Location

From the C-26 at kilometre 174 a track leaves (camí de Moreta i Viladonja) that passes by Can Benet and Can Planes; past the Pla de la Barraca we continue straight on, at the next junction we take the left, running parallel to the Rec de la Riba. At Sant Esteve de la Riba we turn right along the Clot de l'Alba, following the camí ral d'Estiula as far as the collada de Can Carles; at the crossroads we continue straight ahead, but after a few metres we turn right. At the Pujol de Llentes we turn left; once past the camp de la Llobera we continue as far as the masia de Llentes, we follow the track and 390 metres from the masia we turn right onto a track that we follow for some 650 metres until it becomes impassable; to begin with we continue on foot along the path, then cross country in a W direction until we cross the Clot de l'Infern; some 50 metres further on and in the middle of the wood we find the cova d'en Nil de la Riba, from here we continue in a N8E direction for 82 metres where we find the lower entrance of the Esquerda nº 1 del Clot de l'Infern.

Description

Morphology

By means of an open-air fissure, one enters the cavity where we find a large block that separates two galleries. Entering on the left of the block we follow a gallery that turns to the right and on the left we find a low gallery on a steep ramp and a small step and again another ramp; from the step the gallery turns through some 180 degrees, continues basically flat and some blocks found in the middle of the gallery have to be climbed over, after a short distance the fissure closes.

Back at the head of the gallery that descends, continuing straight on the gallery descends and reaches a wide crossing of fissures where the ceiling opens to the outside. On the right a gallery leads to the entry point where the block that divides the two galleries is, while on the left a gallery going up leads to the base of the shaft of the upper entrance; along one side of the shaft, in the form of a ramp, it can be reached with ease.
