Tiny little cave at coll d'Ordal (Vallirana), opened during the works on the N-340 bypass.

Characteristics

Location

It is located on the other side of the N-340 road from where caves number 1, 2 and 3 of the Cuneta are situated. To reach it, one must turn off at the roundabout giving access to the Lledoner urbanisation, and follow the old road as far as the Creu d'Ordal; at this point, on the left, a track starts that within a few metres leads to some repeater stations, from these one must continue a few metres further to the cliff face through which the N-340 road passes.

Description

Morphology

Cavity opened during the construction of the road. A narrow entrance 1.22X0.33 metres, located in a fissure easily visible from the outside, leads us to a drop of 1.80 metres. Here we find a narrow joint. This gallery ends at 3.50 metres, it is inclined and has a width of 0.40 metres, which decreases until reaching 0.20 metres. The height is 2.70 metres. Right at the place where the drop is descended there is a shaft through which the cavity continues 2 metres further (measured with a distance meter), although by throwing stones it seems deeper. Due to the falling of stones the hole is very small (0.40X0.17 metres), and does not allow passage, unless a major de-obstruction were carried out.

Speleothems

In the narrow joint there are some lithogenic coatings.

Progression

A rope must be rigged to make a short rappel of about 4 metres to reach the entrance of the cavity.

Other details

Some bone remains were also observed.

History

Cavity opened during the construction works of the new bypass of the N-340 road at its passage through the coll de l'Ordal; these works took place between the end of the last century and the beginning of the XXI. The first exploration of which there are references was carried out in 2009 by the GE Badalona.
