Characteristics

Location

On the B-400 road, from Guardiola de Berguedà to Saldes, between kilometre 5 and 5.5, at the foot of a rocky crag we find rock shelters with remains of constructions used as pens (balmes de Ca l'Isidret). Cave no. 2 is about 120 m S of the Cova de Ca l'Isidret, following the crag.

A few metres from Cave no. 2 there is another cavity, also at the foot of the crag, formed by a narrow descending passage just over 4 m long, half filled with sediments and which would need to be cleared. It is the Cova nº 3 de Ca l'Isidret.

Description

Morphology

Taking advantage of the contact between a limestone stratum and a marl stratum, the mouth of the cavity opens at the foot of the Ca l'Isidret crag.

Following the dip of about 25º, it descends decisively in a ramp with dusty floor and cramped dimensions.

At seven or eight metres it gains volume while the dust on the floor disappears, replaced by a sticky mud, a characteristic that will accompany us for the rest of the cavity.

We skirt above a small 3 metre pit, overcome a drop and reach a step of smaller dimensions.

A few metres further on the cavity makes a 90º turn and after a 40x50 crawl the mud completely fills the gallery.

Hydrology

After a 40x50 crawl the mud completely fills the gallery through which a weak current of water flows.

Progression

At the step of smaller dimensions we find an installed rope and the remains of a shovel, evidence of an enormous clearing effort. Here the mud is omnipresent.

History

Located in September 2023 by members of the Espeleodijous during the search for the Cova de Ca l'Isidret. On making a first quick visit they can already observe, despite it being an unpublished cavity, that someone has been there before and has left clearing tools inside. We do not know the authors of these visits.

In November 2023 those from the Espeleodijous return and carry out the corresponding documentation work.
