Location

From the N-260 road, at kilometre 198, we find the access to the Pla de Codina industrial estate where there is a sawmill; positioning ourselves on the esplanade in front of it, we must ascend, deviating slightly towards the west; the cave is located a few metres below a solitary tree at 60 metres of elevation above the sawmill, with the entrance very hidden by dense vegetation (brambles).

Description

Morphology

The entrance of notable proportions (4X2 metres) gives way to a gallery of the same width, but the ceiling progressively diminishes in height. At 8 metres one enters a crawlway 8.70 metres long, practically devoid of lithogenic formations except for a single privileged point. Its continuation is choked by sediments. The total length is 14.70 metres and the elevation difference is 1.50 metres.

History

The only reference we have for this cavity is that it was explored on 26 March 1978 during an outing to the area of the Cova d'Anes and surroundings, by the G.E.P.E.G. (Penya Excursionista Guimerà) of Barcelona.

It is possible that this cavity is the same one known by the name cova de la Mariana, of which the only reference we know is that it was cited by A. Traver in 1966, but that the description of the place where the entrance of both cavities opens is quite similar.
