Small coastal cave N of Sa Tuna (Begur), between Sa Tuna and Aiguafreda, with two parts, one of large dimensions and another with a pool of seawater.

Characteristics

Location

Coastal cavity located between the coves of Sa Tuna and Aiguafreda de Begur.

We will access it from the beach of Sa Tuna by following the camí de ronda north towards Aiguafreda. After about 230 m of walking we reach the corner of a wall that forces us to turn west; after 30 m more, we will reach the next recess of the wall. At this point we will leave the camí de ronda to descend west towards the marked depression in front of us; the cave is at its bottom and beneath the camí de ronda itself.

Description

Morphology

Cavity of generous dimensions structured in two well-differentiated parts.

The main one, of large dimensions, on a slight slope and fully roofed, with large blocks on the floor in its initial part giving way to gravel and sand in its innermost part.

The secondary one, partially roofed and closer to the sea, is characterized by having a pool of seawater slightly above sea level.

Hydrology

The secondary part has a pool of seawater slightly above sea level that the waves take care of filling.

Other details

In this pool the priests used to bathe because it is located in a discreet area, and from this circumstance the cavity takes its name.

History

Known for a long time by the people of the area and referenced on the ICGC map and others.

Documented by Montse Mañosa and Jordi Navarro in July 2024.
