Description
Morphology
Initially Solbas named the cavity cova-avenc del Rocater, because once past the threshold of the entrance mouth, with all sorts of flowstone crusts on the ground, one had to climb a wall until almost touching the ceiling, and at this point it was possible to see the continuation of the concretion-covered cave and a hole resembling a small pit. In reality the wall is the very narrow, highly concretion-covered fissure that causes both walls of the cavity to merge. Despite the height of the mouth, the N12 joint does not exceed five metres in length.
Speleothems
The cavity presents flowstone crusts on the ground and is concretion-covered, with a narrow, highly concretion-covered fissure that causes both walls of the cavity to merge.
Progression
To reach it, one must start from the crossroads of the Roure Escorçoner. Then we will pass along the right hydrographic side of the torrent and follow the ridge line within the forest. We will arrive near the cliff, at which point we will come out onto a broad rocky area forming an elongated overhang. We will follow the rocky area along its upper part. To find the cave we must climb a first small channel that allows us to jump to a second one where, at the top, the Cova del Rocater opens. Once past the threshold of the entrance mouth, with all sorts of flowstone crusts on the ground, one had to climb a wall until almost touching the ceiling.
History
Quim Solbas found this small cavity on 4-10-2008 while searching for the cova dels Clapers, a cavity that Ramon Suades finally located a couple of years later. As usually happens in this kind of inch-by-inch search, unexpected cavities are found along the way that to a certain extent compensate for the frustrations of what was initially sought.
