Characteristics

Location

We will leave Mont-roig del Camp along the Colldejou road (T-322). On reaching km 7.7 we will see on the right the track leading to the hermitage of the Mare de Déu de la Roca. A few metres further on we will take the local road (Camí de l'Arranclavers) that branches off to the right and leads back to Mont-roig, and we will continue for 1,200 metres, where we will leave the car. The cavity is perfectly visible on the right of the road.

Description

Morphology

The cavity opens to the outside through a 10 metre wide entrance subdivided into 4 openings, a wider one, 5 metres wide and 1.1 metres high, and beside it, three small openings, the central one impenetrable. It is opened in the foothill materials, scree cones.

Progression

It begins with a descent between blocks followed by a slightly ascending stretch.

Other details

The cavity is in a lamentable state of conservation: tyres, dead animals, wooden boxes...

History

A fairly well-known cavity in Mont-roig, opened, very possibly, during the construction of the track that runs from Mont-roig to the hermitage of the Mare de Déu de la Roca. It was archaeologically excavated by Salvador Vilaseca and currently serves as a rubbish dump.
