Description
Morphology
The entrance, 1x1 metre and reinforced with cement, gives access to a one-metre drop. After passing a narrow squeeze, a descending ramp of about 45º begins; after descending 6 metres along it, there is a 2-metre drop that leads to a lower level of galleries. Above the drop the floor of the entrance gallery is met again, now in the form of an ascending ramp of 25º, at the top of which it remains blocked by boulders. Below the drop, towards the S, there is a circular gallery of one metre that ends a little further on. In a N direction the gallery is about 2 metres high in a descending ramp of 25º. At 8 metres a confluence opens on the left with a gallery that returns towards the S and climbs up to some small upper conduits. Continuing along the main gallery, this gains height for a few metres and after a short lateral conduit on the right, it begins to climb and to become of more reduced dimensions until it becomes impassable. The vertical range is -11.5 metres.
Hydrology
Infiltration of faecal waters from livestock is observed, which partially flood the floor.
Other details
The CO2 concentration in the atmosphere of the cavity is high.
History
It was located by chance towards the end of 1988 by some workers who were installing an electricity network pole. In view of the uncontrolled visits that were taking place, the cave was closed and permission must be requested from the farmhouse to visit it. GES-CM Terrassa explored and surveyed it on 28-5-1989.
The name of the cavity is cova del 9 Nou; due to the requirements of the EspeleoÍndex database, the number 9 must be written out in letters.
