Characteristics

Location

We will set out from the village of Olèrdola and take the road towards the castle. We will find a turn-off to the right, which is a dirt track that we will follow, leaving a fork to the right. Next we will continue along the track on the left, which will take us through the bottom of the Seguera. We will continue to a point where the walls become higher; here we will leave the car. The cave becomes visible above the wall on the right, about thirty metres above the bottom of the valley. We will have to go back a few metres to find a small path that will take us to the cave.

In various sources (among them the ICGC map) the place name Segarulls has been changed to Segarrulls.

Description

Morphology

The entrance to the cave is made from the overhanging wall. It gives way to a gallery of 7 metres that begins with a positive drop, which narrows to approximately 1×1 metres, until reaching the end of the gallery, which is accessed through a narrow passage.

History

Known since time immemorial. At the end of July 1958, Pere Giró discovered the rock paintings that gave value to the small cave.

This cavity should not be confused with the Abric de Segarulls, a small and nearby rock shelter that is also of archaeological interest.
