A 69-metre-long cave in Rocacorba (Canet d'Adri), with a single ascending gallery and a vertical drop of +17 metres.

Characteristics

Location

From Pujarnol, the track leading to the castle of Rocacorba starts; shortly before reaching Puigsou, we will turn off onto the track on the right towards the Castell de Rocacorba. After covering about 60 metres, one must descend along the left bank of a torrent, where we will find the cavity 120 metres away and 43 metres of vertical drop from the track, a few metres from a spring.

Description

Morphology

It consists of a single ascending gallery running in a practically W-E direction, with its floor formed by blocks and sediments, from which two small perpendicular branches emerge towards the SE, one of them beginning at the foot of the main gallery, and the other practically at its top. The cavity has a vertical drop of +17 metres.

History

Font i Sagué, in the epilogue of his Catàlech (1897), says verbatim: Rocacorba. 311).- Una cova. Faura i Sans in his Recull (1909) almost reproduces Font's citation, saying: La Cova (Rocacorba).

We know nothing more until, according to the activity log of the GES – CMB, in September 1954 members of this group explore the cave, calling it Cova de la Verge (perhaps the real name of the cavity?), although they leave no data about this exploration.

It is not until 1 April 1972 that it is explored by members of the SIRE-UEC (Gràcia): X. Araiz, J. Cañelles, J. Sabater, and J. Torrella. In 1973, on 2 September, members of the SIRE return: J. Cañelles, J. Torrella and A. Lagar, carrying out the survey and biospeleological research. From then on it remains catalogued as Cova de Rocacorba.

Bio

Among the fauna collected by A. Lagar (1973), it is worth highlighting:

Coleoptera

· Speonomus delarouzeei
