A 26-metre-long cave at the base of the Rocaterçana crag (Capolat), explored and surveyed in June 2016 by the Centre Excursionista de Castellar del Vallès.

Characteristics

Location

Above km 5 of the BV-4243 road that climbs to Rasos de Peguera, a paved track starts towards Castellar del Riu; without leaving it we will pass the turn-off towards Castellar del Riu and continue along the dirt track to the Casa d'en Blanc.

From the surroundings of the house and in the direction of Rocaterçana, there are some faintly marked paths that will help us climb the slope up to the point where we will have to go through the forest looking for the path until we reach the base of the cliffs.

The cavity is located near the vertical of the summit of Rocaterçana, at the base of the cliff.

Description

Morphology

The entrance, 1.2 x 1.65 m high with an upper window, gives access to a high chamber that soon reduces its dimensions to progress through a crawlway of increasingly narrow dimensions; after passing the narrowest point of 0.64 x 0.35 m we will be able to stand up on a small chimney and a narrow fissure that goes in a few metres further.

At the entrance of the crawlway there is a connection with a small room on an upper level that also connects with the final fissure and a new chimney.

History

The known reference of which we have record is the exploration carried out in June 2016 by members of the Centre Excursionista de Castellar del Vallès, who also surveyed the cavity.
