Small cave in the barranc de la Fou, in la Sénia (Montsià), possibly an ancient spring with a short gallery collapsed by large blocks.

Characteristics

Location

The cavity is located in the barranc de la Fou, in la Sénia (Montsià). To get there from la Sénia, one must go to the Ulldecona reservoir (la Pobla de Benifassà, Baix Maestrat, País Valencià) and from there follow the camí de la Fou. Once past this spring, one must follow, on the right, the so-called camí de la Fou, which follows the barranc of the same name. Shortly after passing the dividing line and once back in Catalonia, before reaching the la Fou recreation area, on the left and right beside the path is this small cavity.

Description

Morphology

It appears to be an ancient spring with a short gallery of good dimensions that after a few metres is collapsed by large blocks. We do not have any survey or more specific data.

History

Certainly known since remote times. We suspect that it must be the same cavity that appears referenced on the ICGC maps as Coveta de la Cansalada.
