Characteristics

Location

One kilometre south of the urban centre of Monistrol de Montserrat, not far from the Cap de Bou residential development. Both caves are found on the lowest crag of the mountain of Montserrat. To get there, we will reach the Repsol petrol station in Monistrol, located about half a kilometre south of the village. From its side a steep street begins that soon turns into a cemented track that overcomes a steep gradient by making a few hairpin bends, until reaching the carrer del Pi of the residential development. Very soon this forks. Between the two streets of the fork a precariously cemented track emerges that ends at a vacant lot, the place where the path begins, at first steep and then flatter, which runs along the crag. This path leads us directly to the cova de l'Os. The cova de l'Osset is found about a hundred metres before reaching the cova de l'Os; it will be necessary to leave the path to climb up in search of the base of the crag, heading towards a clearly visible slab.

Description

Morphology

Structured between the wall of the crag and a vertical slab that rests on the wall. It has a passage of 13 m with a high section, up to 8 m, and not very wide, which narrows with height. The slab has an opening towards the centre, which gives rise to a central mouth. The cavity is entered through the south mouth, since the north one is very narrow.

History

With even fewer references than its neighbour the Cova de l'Os. Located by members of the ECM Barcelonès and GE Badalona at the end of July 2023 when they went to visit the Cova de l'Os. Certainly known to climbers since it is next to a small path that leads to the foot of some climbing routes.
