Characteristics

Location

From the recreational area of the ermita de la Mare de Deu de la Foia, a track sets off towards the collet del Ros and is closed; at the height of the padlock we will continue to the left along a path that climbs until it links up again with the track. On reaching the collet del Ros we will continue to the left along a path that will take us to the mas Serrador (it is not a mas, but rather a worked shelter); at this point we will continue to the right in an E direction, along a path where we will soon find a fairly steep rocky rise, where if the ground is wet it is advisable to put a piece of rope; we will soon leave the path and turn off to the right along a rather faint trail, which follows an old cultivation terrace. The trail ends after a few metres in front of a thicket of vegetation, among which there is a passage in the direction of the wall that gives us access to the cova de Bestral.

Description

Morphology

It is a large rock shelter, whose front is closed by a stone wall. The interior is accessed through the left-hand part of the wall; through the right-hand part of it there is another access, but the vegetation prevents passage. Once inside the shelter we find a large block that occupies a good part of the space. Passing along the left-hand part of the block, at the end of it we find a small and wide chamber but with a low ceiling (1 metre on average).

Speleothems

In the chamber we find some stalagmitic columns; also on the right-hand part of the chamber a stalagmitic barrier has formed that prevents access to a space that can be seen behind. The whole formation is in a fairly advanced state of decalcification.
