Description

Morphology

Currently most of the caves that make up the Parc de les Coves Prehistòriques de Serinyà are blurred with respect to their original form.

We find the cova d'en Pau right next to the start of the walkway giving access to the cova del Reclau Viver, and given its situation and direction, it is more than likely that it formed part of the complex. Once excavated, a space of 4.4 metres deep by 1.8 metres wide and 2 metres high has remained.

Just in front of the cova d'en Pau, and a few metres to the S, we find the cova d'en Pau II or Cau d'en Paquito, very probably it also formed part of the same complex. It is a small winding corridor, partially collapsed.

Between both caves, there is an open space known as Davant Pau.

Other details

The cova d'en Pau II or Cau d'en Paquito was excavated in the years 1958 and 1973.

In the open space known as Davant Pau, between both caves, excavations were also carried out in 1974.

History

It was discovered in the year 1943 by Josep Mª Pau and Narcis Franch, the excavation works were carried out by Dr. Corominas.
