Location

Take the track that leads from Sadernes to the Coll de Faja. Before reaching the almost ruined house of can Cufí, descend along the lower edge of the forest track to look for a small cliff on the right-hand slope of the torrent de Llorers.

Description

Morphology

The entrance opens in the wall of a small cliff, at a height of about four metres. The 10-metre-long entrance gallery meets almost at the midpoint of a perpendicular gallery 17 metres long.

History

The cave was discovered in 1975 by A. Fabrega and L. Tarrés of the GE Olot.

The cave itself is an important archaeological site, which began to be excavated in 1981, and where remains corresponding to the Middle Palaeolithic (Mousterian) and the Lower Palaeolithic (Montboló) have been found. Some of the finds are more than 150,000 years old.
