Description
Morphology
Entrance 2.5 metres in diameter hidden by shrubs. Single shaft down to -50, tortuous down to -6, where it widens and becomes completely cylindrical (3 metres in diameter), impressive for its regularity. At -30 metres there is a roof that widens the shaft towards the N and combines it with a lateral concavity structured on an E-W joint. The shaft then has a section of 6 x 10 metres. Floor at -50 metres occupied by blocks and trunks. Small final shaft, at the W end of the floor, which had to be cleared, 3 metres deep and with corroded walls. The main shaft is structured on two joints (N-S and E-W) with walls polished by water, a process facilitated by the rock, a fairly marly limestone.
Speleothems
Floor at -50 metres with cave pearls.
Hydrology
Floor at -50 metres with small pools of water. Significant dripping.
History
In April 1964 the first “extension of the Operació Solsonès” began in a neighbouring massif: the Boumort. Members of EDES, EDECA, ERE-CEC and CE Pirenaic are informed in Cabó of the existence of the pit, which they can only descend 45 metres due to lack of equipment. Practically the same team returns on 28 and 29 November of the same year 1964 and complete the exploration.
