Characteristics

Location

The rock shelter is located in Santa Maria de Besora (Osona). From the village of Santa Maria de Besora, one sets out on the left of the cemented track that goes to Ripoll via Llaés (camí dels Ferrers); one takes the first turning on the left that leads to the Ferrers farmhouse, continues along the track and at about 1300m one leaves the car on a very sharp bend. One continues on foot along a small path heading east until reaching the cliff face below the pla de Marenyol, where the balmes dels Ferrers are located; if one continues along a very well signposted path one reaches the balma de Can Burres.

Description

Morphology

It is a worked rock shelter with rounded forms, which still preserves today a large part of its front, the window openings, the door jambs and a curious chimney. The rock shelter has a length of 25m by 6m deep and 3m high.

Other details

The walls still preserve remains of mortar from the lime and clay rendering.

History

Known since remote times. On the ICGC map it appears georeferenced as Balma de la Burra and further to the east than where it really is.
