Characteristics

Location

The cave is located in the Alta Garrotxa (Albanyà).

From the Coll de la Cirera, looking up to the right, a loggers' track starts with a slight descent heading NW. We will follow it on foot until it disappears just at a small torrent; from here a rising path that is easy to follow starts, and then red marks lead to the cavity (data from 1997). Approximate coordinates without much precision.

Description

Morphology

Important fossilised passage 22 metres long. The gallery begins with dimensions of 7 metres high by 11.5 wide; the passage becomes narrower and lower until reaching dimensions of 2x5 metres high and wide respectively.

Speleothems

At the final part we find small parietal formations in activity, localised.

Other details

At the entrance we find the remains of a wall.

History

Cavity visited and cited by Pere Vayreda in 1931; according to this local historian, the Bauma d'en Noguer would be the same cavity that appears documented in the 10th century with the name “speluncam Agovardi” (see Marca Hispánica pp:874-875).

In 1997 it is visited and surveyed by the GEB.

From 2009 an archaeological intervention is carried out there which in 2011 is still continuing.
