Characteristics

Location

On the E slope of the Mola, on the crags that form the base of the Castellassa de Can Torres, above the Sot de la Carda, in Sant Llorenç del Munt.

To get there, first take the path that goes from the base of the Castellassa to the Turó de Matalonga. Just after descending the rocky area, before reaching the Coll Llarg, take the turn-off that descends to the Sot de la Carda. After a few metres, some stone cairns already indicate the path that leads to the right, descending towards the shelter.

Description

Morphology

A long shelter, about 80 metres wide. A rocky wall divides the cavity into two parts. The E zone is easy to access and is only a few metres deep. The W zone of the shelter has a more complex access and is narrower.

We do not have a survey, so we do not know the exact dimensions.

Hydrology

At one of the ends is the true Font de les Mosques, namesake of another nearby one.

History

Because of its size and the availability of water, this part of the shelter has often been occupied and still today preserves several walls.

Years ago there was a hard dispute over control of the shelter between a group of charcoal burners and women dedicated to the production of pitch. Finally they agreed that each group would occupy one of the parts of the shelter.
