Matadepera • Vallès Occidental 17m 8m

Small 8 m deep pit in Sant Llorenç del Munt, discovered in 1978.

Characteristics

Location

From les Arenes follow the whole Carena de l'Illa (path to the avenc de la Carbonera) until reaching the Coll Llarg. From here you must go in a N direction towards the Sot de Matalonga and you will come out on a very inconspicuous ridge due to the thick vegetation, bounded by two lush torrents that converge at the Sot de Matalonga. A few metres after where the torrents join, in the very middle of the streambed, is the pit. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

The entrance, which opens in the middle of the torrent, has dimensions of 10 by 2 metres with a considerable inclination between the upper and lower lip. From the floor of the shaft two galleries lead off to a room where we can stand upright.

Hydrology

On one side of one of these galleries the water loss of the pit can be seen.

Progression

If we go down by the lower one we will have to overcome a 3 metre drop.

History

Discovered at the beginning of 1978 by M. Canyameras and F. Segura (SIS-CET) while searching for the Avenc de la Pala.
