Characteristics

Location

At the eastern end of the Puig de Sant Pere, two kilometres east of the Mare de Déu de Montgrony, in the Serra de Montgrony (Ripollès). Starting from this sanctuary, we will take the path that in half an hour brings us to the coll de Pardinella, where there is a small dolmen. From here we will follow the GR that passes near the house of la Pardinella until linking up with a track that we will follow to the left. In a few more minutes we will reach the font de la Balma, located at the foot of the balma del Pujant.

Description

Morphology

Welcoming rock shelter with a table with four seats in the shape of a mushroom. At the southern end of the rock shelter there is a spring.

Hydrology

The spring at the southern end of the rock shelter is captured immediately to carry the water to a masonry tank located in the rock shelter itself. Inside the tank there are three overflows at different levels. The lowest connects with a hose that carries the water to the house of la Pardinella. The surplus water passes to the second overflow to gush out through the spring located inside the rock shelter. And if there is still water left over it exits through the third overflow to gush out at the font de la Balma, located at the foot of this, of solid construction with stone walls and basins.

History

Well known for a long time by hikers. Mentioned, with hardly any data, in the most recent speleological catalogues. Visited by Ferran Cardona (ECMB) in July 2020 while carrying out the cataloguing work.
