Location

From kilometre 9.7 of the BV-5207 road we will take a track on the left, which in 800 metres will bring us to the Collsaplomera, where we will leave the vehicle. From here we will take another track on the left which, in a southerly direction, runs parallel to the cliff along the Puig de les Balmes and which we will have to follow for some 450 metres. The path turns along the base of the puig de les Balmes to continue in a north-westerly direction. It is shortly after this change that we will find the balma dels Bugaders on our right. From this point, the balma de les Piques is 180 metres further on, and the path leads us directly to the central part of the rock shelter. Shortly before we will find a sign indicating the path to the rock shelter.

Description

Morphology

It is one of the largest rock shelters of the Collsacabra, 70 metres wide, although it is not very deep (maximum 7 metres). The maximum height is 4 metres.

Hydrology

Inside there are two large rectangular basins (one single and one double) carved into the rock that collect the water falling from the roof of the rock shelter.

History

Known since time immemorial. It appears in the Inventari del Patrimoni Arqueològic de Catalunya with no. 11848.
