Characteristics

Location

Take the BV-1221 road that climbs to the coll de les Estenalles and leave the car at km 4, at the Barata car park. From here continue on foot along the dirt track that leads to Can Pèlecs; from there follow a path that passes beside the pit of Can Pèlecs and, along this narrow path heading NE, you reach the edge of the cliff where the balma Blava is found, very visible. Continuing along the cliff towards the N, after a few metres you come to the balma de can Pèlecs.

Description

Morphology

The balma de Can Pèlecs has dimensions of 11 m in length by 7 m in depth and 5 m in maximum height.

History

Known since ancient times.

Note from Espeleoíndex: the place name of the farmhouse that gives its name to this rock shelter and also to the nearby pit has been written in different forms: Pèlags, Pèlecs and also Pèlacs (the latter should be rejected). On the ICGC map it appears as Pèlecs and it is imagined that in the Nomenclàtor oficial de toponímia major too. It should be said that in the Guia de Sant Llorenç del Munt, published by the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa in 1935, it is also called Pèlecs. Despite this, it still appears as Pèlags on some recent maps and many people keep this form.
