Description
Morphology
The entrance is small (0.6 x 0.40 m.) and through a short ramp-like passage one enters, via a very narrow squeeze, a 10-metre pit that is easily free-climbed down to a small, heavily concretioned chamber. Here there are three openings that connect with a 38-metre vertical pit with an approximate diameter of 5 metres and abundant examples of parietal flowstone. At its base, among blocks and sediments, the deepest point is reached (elevation – 50.6 m.).
History
The entrance of the cavity was discovered on 28 May 1967 after a visit to the avenc dels Aragalls by members of SIRE – UEC Sants. The following Sunday, 4 June, after removing some stones from the entrance ramp and the narrow squeeze, its exploration and survey were carried out, and at that time a depth of 57 metres was calculated. Many years later, on 30 September 1990, members of SIE – CEA proceeded to make a revision of the survey and it was reduced to 50.60 metres.
