Description

Morphology

Within a fracture about 4 metres long by just over 1 metre wide opens a small shaft that descends 5 metres and diminishes in size as one goes down. At the bottom, full of clastic deposits, there is still a tiny step that allows one to see the joint that becomes impenetrable.

It seems to be a highly evolved form of the rascler on a joint running E – W.

History

In September 1988 members of the SIE located the cavity and observed that on the wall of the pit there was an inscription in red paint (at the time it did not seem very old, but today it has completely disappeared) that read: Avenc Pierro, G.G.G. This is why we deduce that the first exploration was during the 1980s by the Grup Geogràfic de Gràcia.

In January 2003, members of the GE Badalona explored and surveyed a small pit with the same characteristics and in the same area, which they named Avenc petit del Pasant. We think it is the same cavity, although when they publish it they say it is in the streambed and the Avenc Pierro is about 20 metres above it.

Our friend Lluís Muntan has sometimes told us that it could also be a pit explored by the GES – CMB in September 1958 that has always remained unpublished and that they named Avenc de Vallgrassa, although we have doubts since, according to the GES activity book, they gave it a depth of 10 metres.
