Description
Morphology
Through an entrance 2.5 by 1.2 metres and by means of a small 6-metre pit, one enters a spacious illuminated chamber which, at the opposite end, has a small opening that communicates with the outside. Its base has a slight slope that connects with a pit of bell-shaped structure, at the bottom of which the maximum depth is reached.
A cavity of residual type masked by important lithogenic processes, currently quite deteriorated.
History
The avenc Pasant (not Passant as it appears in many descriptions of the cavity) is named after the speleologist of the GES – CMB, Rafel Pasant Coll.
Wandering around the Campgràs on 17 June 1954, a shepherd showed it to us and that same day we descended the first pit and were able to sound the second.
The following weekend we returned with enough material to explore it. We were Guillamón, Gazulla, Pasant, Riera and I, all members of the GES of the CMB.
Once explored and surveyed, Riera, Pasant and I decided to go to the beach to spend the night and the Sunday. We stopped at the Cala Morisca.
The next morning, Rafel Pasant drowned in the sea and his body did not appear until a week later at the cala d'Aiguadolç, in Sitges.
It is for these facts, and in his memory, that we decided to name the new pit after the lost companion. (Information written and provided by Lluís Muntan, GES of the CMB).
It should also be recorded that, in this pit and in the middle of the 1970s, the Rescue Group of the Catalan Committee of Speleology installed a rescue material cache in the first chamber of the cavity and the small entrance pit could be descended by a thick iron chain. The duration of this cache was about 4 or 5 years.
