Characteristics

Location

From the Pla de Querol car park, go to the well-known Avenc d'en Pasant. From here, descend in a N direction to the streambed of the torrent at the head of the fondo de Vallgrassa and follow it a few metres downstream, and just to the left and about five metres away is the pit.

Description

Morphology

Medium entrance among blocks. Small entrance shaft of 3.5 metres, the bottom of which is a level of materials washed in by water from a small catchment basin. The last metre and a half was the result of a major dig.

Wide pit collapsed by subsidence and with the space between blocks refilled by sediments.

History

Cavity previously unpublished, known to Lluís Muntan (GES-CMB) since November 2003 and which, together with colleagues from GES-CMB, he explored in 2004, providing us with the location data and the name they gave it.

Our colleague Jordi de Valles tells us that this small pit had been located and explored by members of the Grup Geogràfic de Gràcia towards the end of the 1970s, more or less at the same time as they explored the nearby Avenc Pierro; we do not know, however, whether they gave it a name and, if so, which. He also informs us that the dig at the bottom was done a few months ago (2014) by the Espeleo Club de Gràcia.

Bio

The spiders that gave the pit its name continue to reproduce inside it, although they are not abundant.
