Characteristics

Location

From Camarasa you must follow the track that climbs to the serra Carbonera and more specifically to the ermita de Sant Jordi. On reaching the flat area where the ermita is, we will take the track on the right until we reach some corrals; just behind these a path starts that in 400 metres places us in a field that some years is cultivated. The path continues crossing the crop field towards the north; at 200 metres and on the left of the path we will find the mouth of the cavity. This was cleared and enlarged in 2011, since previously the mouth was quite narrow.

Description

Morphology

Cavity formed by a P.10 followed by a short ramp that leads us to the bottom of the cavity. At the end of this ramp there is a small impenetrable shaft through which 1.7 m can be sounded. Halfway down the entrance pit there is an accumulation of blocks that, in the opposite direction to the pit, forms a ramp that reaches the level of -7 m. The whole cavity has a width that does not exceed one metre.

History

In January 1971, while members of GEFOMA were exploring the avenc de Sant Jordi, a work colleague of one of them, totally removed from the speleological world, who had signed up for the trip, went for a walk around the area and located the mouth of the pit. This had been opened by the “caterpillar” machine that was ploughing the land, for the forest repopulation. This person who located the cavity was a native of Galicia and his surname was Ocampo d'Ocampo and for this reason it was agreed to give his first surname as the name of the cavity.

At Easter 1971 GEFOMA returns again and surveys the cavity.

In 2011 the GELL of the CE de Lleida carries out a clearing, enlarging the mouth.

In 2015 the EC Gràcia carries out a new survey.
