Characteristics

Location

From Pallejà, along the Camí de Can Coll, when the asphalt ends near the font del Carinyo, follow the dirt track for about 500 metres more. About 50 metres beyond the font de les Rovires there is a wide space to park under some olive trees.

From the parking area, follow the track for 150 metres more. Leave the wide track and take a track that climbs to the left. At 20 metres, take a path to the right. Soon it straightens out and becomes a muddy path-gully that climbs straight up towards the viewpoint. A well-cut rectangular slab under a large pine with a white-painted arrow marks the point where we leave the viewpoint path and climb towards the crevices. Fifteen metres from the fork is the group of crevice number 1 and number 3. They also call it Cova de les Rovires. Following the cliff towards the NW, 5 metres from the entrance of crevices 1 and 3, there is a small pit that connects with crevice number 3; ten metres further on is crevice number 2.

From crevice number 2, a path that follows the cliff in a NE direction leads to the Avenc Negre. First it descends a little, then turns left and after 10 metres the wide entrance in the ground is found.

The path route is 500 metres with an elevation gain of 88 metres.

Description

Morphology

The 5X2 metre entrance gives access to a -5 metre pit; after scrambling over a small chaos of blocks, a 3-metre drop is descended with the floor sloping; here we find a horizontal gallery of irregular structure with a route of 14 metres. At the start of this gallery we find a pit -7 metres deep; once at its base, easy climbs with numerous small drops give access to a gallery of more than 12 metres in route and 2 metres in width, with a flat ceiling very close to the surface. Back at the base of the pit, a narrow entrance opens that gives access to a -5 metre pit, through which we reach -24 metres of depth.
