A pit 38 metres deep in the municipality of Baix Pallars (Boumort), first explored on 4 August 1985.

Characteristics

Location

The pit is located in the municipality of Baix Pallars (Boumort).

To get there, on the N-260 road from Pobla de Segur to Sort, once past the last tunnel of the Collegats gorge, at 2.5 kilometres we will find the turn-off towards Baén; then a bridge crosses the Noguera Pallaresa river and once past it a track must be taken on the right which, through a ford, crosses the Major river and climbs towards the Pentina forest, winding up the mountain, and we will head towards the Cuberes refuge. After 16.3 kilometres we will reach a junction located at the Collada (the collada del Camp, according to the ICC). The track on the right heads towards the Cuberes refuge (casa Miró); the one on the left (Pista de la Fusta) is closed to vehicle traffic and we will follow it for about 3 kilometres. First the path passes through a stretch of forest and then immediately turns left, following the right hydrographic slope of the valley almost at ridge level; after a stretch in which the track runs level along the serra del Pouet, it makes a right turn and changes to the slope of the Major river; the track descends until it reaches a bend where it turns left. On this stretch and before reaching the torrent that crosses the track we will find the mouth of the cavity on the left bank of the track.

The coordinates are very approximate, but not exact, since they were taken prior to the release of satellite signals. But there is no difficulty in finding it as it is at the edge of the track.

Description

Morphology

The mouth opens on the left of the track, on the slope resulting from the opening of the track, and the cavity has therefore opened as a consequence of the excavator's work. The mouth gives access to a 15-metre pit, followed by another of 12 metres, and a descending gallery places us before a very narrow 3-metre pit that has not been descended.

Hydrology

In the 3-metre pit that has not been descended there is an air current.

History

First explored on 4 August 1985 by members of the “Speleo Club Lasallien” of Nimes, France, and given the name L.85.3.
