Description
Morphology
Large entrance (12 x 5 metres) that gives access to a single shaft of 19 metres. The base is occupied by clastic materials and, in some places, by vegetation.
Other details
An excavation carried out by human hands has been superimposed on the original cavity, evidence that at some time it was used as a quarry for “sparry calcite”.
History
The first known speleological visit was made by members of the SES – CE Puigmal (Barcelona) at the end of the 1950s.
It should be noted that near the Bassallacuna doline and beside the path was the so-called avenc de Bassallacuna, a shaft 9 metres deep with a section of 6 x 3 metres. Around 1990, the owner of the land ordered it to be filled in with stones and rubble. It should be noted that the aforementioned owner was the mayor of Begues in 1972 and that he negotiated the land where the Joan valley rubbish dump was later installed.
