Characteristics

Location

Leaving Begues towards Can Rigol (holiday house), follow the track up to the Pla de Bassa Llacuna (where the TV repeaters are) and from there continue towards the Pla de les Solius. A short distance after leaving Bassa Llacuna, the summit of the Penya Blanca can be seen on the right, and from the track itself one must follow the ridge leading to the summit. Barely 100 metres from the summit and to its SW is the small entrance of the pit.

Currently, vehicle access from a little beyond Can Rigol is prohibited.

Description

Morphology

Formed by a single 33-metre vertical shaft, almost uniform throughout its development and with a maximum diameter of about 3 metres in its central zone. It is in this sector, specifically at the -18 level, that on its eastern wall a clearly visible window opens, giving access to another cavity, also vertical and with a blind dome, which descends parallel to the main one and reaches the same depth as it, although the dimensions of the entire passage are much smaller.

History

First explored in January 1956 by members of GES – CMB, although they only explored the main shaft. The lateral passage had remained unrecorded until around 1994, when the colleague Xavier Arús (EG Santfeliuenc) noticed it and descended almost to the bottom. In December 1996 a team from SIE – CE Àliga carried out the complete exploration and survey.
