Location

Follow the path that climbs from the barranc de la Taverna until reaching the avenc del Púdol; from there we will descend towards the left slope of a small ravine that leads to a large entrance. The entrance is located about 10 metres above it. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

When the entrance was found, one could barely fit a hand through the hole in the middle of a highly decomposed rock. Once the small entrance was opened, it gives way to a drop of just over a metre and a half in depth; this places us on a ledge that can be descended without difficulty on the left through a narrow, descending gallery that leads to a small chamber, from which, by means of a crawlway covered in gravel, one reaches a larger chamber.

History

Explored by the GELL in 1998. Its name comes from a tupí and a piece of pottery that was found inside this small cavity. These pieces were taken to the EIE, where experts determined that the tupí was approximately from the 11th century and could have been used to store spices, while the sherd was a piece of càlat.

If the experts found it strange that a fragment of càlat was found in a place so far from the river and from any settlement, the explorers were even more surprised that there was no natural entrance, which led them to think that the cavity formerly connected with the large entrance located further down and that this one had collapsed.
