Location

In the torrent del Salt. Follow the camí dels Monjos in a S direction from the water tanks until reaching a junction with a track, where we will find the torrent del Salt, which must be followed upstream along another path that ends in a bramble patch; on the left-hand side and under a fig tree is the entrance of the pit.

Description

Morphology

The 6 metre by 1 entrance leads to a ramp that descends to the point of maximum depth (elevation – 8 m., from the lower lip). From the upper lip it is a 6 metre shaft that joins with the ramp.

Previously, the bottom of the pit was located at about 6 metres deep, but it collapsed to the current elevation, forming a plug of debris that, due to the rain, is subsiding.

Speleothems

The walls are covered with flowstone and moss.

History

Although the pit was already known to some hikers, the only data we know of are those published by members of the SIS – CE Terrassa who explored and surveyed it in November 1977.
