Description

Morphology

It is a long collapse fissure that has four access openings. The fourth opening is a horizontal gallery that leads out at the western end of the main gallery.

Progression

Through the lower opening one can enter on flat ground into the lowest part of the fissure and climb up to the main gallery, where at each end the two upper openings can be seen, which lead to respective access shafts.

Other details

The neighbouring cavities: Esquerda and Cova de l'Olla de Ferro, form part of the same fissure, but separated by an accumulation of blocks.

History

Located in May 1974 by X. Bellés, J. Comas and O. Escolà on a biospeleological outing. At the opening they found painted the name and the half-erased reference of a group, possibly from Vilanova i la Geltrú or from Vilafranca del Penedès.

Bio

Coleoptera: Troglocharinus (Troglocharinus) schibii (Español, 1972). First collected in this cavity by X. Bellés, J. Comas and O. Escolà in 1974.
