Morphology
Small 13 m deep pit in the El Port massif. A lateral entrance allows entry into a 10 metre shaft with some unstable blocks on the wall. At its bottom, a tiny 2 metre pit marks the end point of the cavity.

History
This pit came to light with the construction works of the track that climbs to mont Caro. The only mention and very possibly the first exploration was that of the SIE del CEA in January 1974. The colleagues of the Espeleo Club Tortosa catalogued it as Avenc de la Carretera (the original track was paved years later) and labelled it as CP-16. Despite this, the plaque at the mouth states: Cova de la Carretera.
