Characteristics

Location

From the pla de Campgràs, follow the track that heads toward the landfill and that, once past the esplanade where the old Telefònica hut used to be, becomes a wide path that skirts the old fondo de les Terradelles and follows the high-tension line. Further on, along the divide between the head of the fondo de Vallbona and that of the Sot de l'Infern, the path leading to the Bassot de l'Arbre emerges. About 100 metres before reaching this point, you must descend to the left, alongside a small torrent that flows into the Sot de l'Infern, follow it downstream a few metres and, above a rocky stretch, about 5 metres above the right slope, is the mouth of the pit.

Description

Morphology

The outer opening leads to a cavity located 3 metres further down and connected at various points with the upper part of a heavily decorated chamber, only an inclined gallery being penetrable, which begins at the W end and ends in an E-W joint that converges with the aforementioned chamber. In the western part of the joint and, through a narrow passage opened at its base (the cony de la Pepi), it links with a 7 metre pit that, 3 metres from its base, communicates through a narrow joint opened in its NE wall with the roof of a 14 metre pit, whose floor is a chamber of 13 x 6 metres that is divided in two by an accumulation of blocks. In the W gallery of the aforementioned chamber begins an ascending crawl that reaches an area with two chimneys and then a series of steps between blocks welded by lithogenesis until reaching the last pit (P.10.5) which follows the same characteristics as the upper sector. At its bottom begins a short, slightly descending gallery at the bottom of which the point of maximum depth is reached.

History

On 1 September 1968, four members of the Grup Espeleològic Pedraforca who were heading to the avenc de la Sivinota, deviate from the path and find two small openings about 5 centimetres in diameter which they proceed to clear, reaching 9 metres of depth and stopping at an extremely narrow passage. They return on 21 September and are able to pass the narrow passage after clearing it, reaching 19 metres of depth that day.

On a third trip they are able to pass a narrow laminator and reach the bottom of the cavity.

In October 1971, members of the SIE – CEA (in collaboration with the GEP) make the topographic survey of the entire cavity.
