Characteristics

Location

Located at the end of Carrer de Josep M. Tosas in Montblanc, we continue along the camí de la pasquala; at the end of this we find a water deposit that we skirt on the left. A little further on, after passing some deposits located on the left of the path, it makes a bend and heads towards the S; we continue uphill until reaching a crossroads, where we leave the track that goes off to the left and continue straight on entering an open area of the forest where we find a square-shaped water deposit. From the West side of the clearing, we follow the track on the right that is closed by a padlock; after about 800 metres, at the point where the track makes a bend to the right, on the left-hand side of the track we find a dry stone wall. A few metres before the wall and on the same side of the track, we find a path that descends in the direction of the font de la Ginesta. Immediately we find a fissure that crosses the path and that must be jumped; a few metres further on and to the left of the path the mouth of the pit opens, at the foot of a fig tree.

Description

Morphology

The mouth gives way to a gallery one metre wide that descends on a slope, which after travelling 7 metres bifurcates; after a small vertical drop, it continues wider but with a much lower ceiling, with a slope of 45º until it cuts perpendicularly another gallery 21 metres long and 1 metre wide, located 4 metres from the floor.

History

Explored by the youthful members (13-14 years old) of the GIEM de Montblanc during the year 1966, who helped by a simple plastic rope of the time, descended the cavity several times during that year; on one of these entries they discovered some interesting bone remains.
