Characteristics

Location

Shortly before km 16 of the road from Begues to Olesa de Bonesvalls, a few metres before the quarry and the CI Aries cement and lime factory, a track (closed) branches off; shortly after it crosses the riera de Begues and climbs the bottom of the Espinadar. Further on we find on the left the remains of the corrals of els Casals and a little further on, on the right, the ruins of a huge farmstead (els Casals). The path continues ahead, tending to the right, until it becomes a footpath (GR-92.3) that climbs the hydrographic slope until reaching a col (some call it the coll de la Ferla). Before it starts to descend towards the Avenc de la Ferla, the footpath goes off to the right and about 50 metres further on turns right; it is here that it must be left and one must continue straight on over the limestone pavement, losing a little height for about 100 metres, to find within a space of a few metres the entrances of the cavities (Farigola II; Aranyes Negres and “Grieta”).

Description

Morphology

Small 7 m deep pit. Very narrow entrance, after digging out, which leads into a small 4.5 metre shaft where, shortly before reaching its bottom, there is a narrowing due to a block wedged between the walls. Then the floor continues in direction N50O with an inclination of about 40º, following the joint for about 5 metres more until it becomes impenetrable.

History

Discovered and explored for the first time by members of the GERS of the AE Muntanya (Barcelona) around 1978 or 1979.
