A 30-metre-deep pit in Senyús (Cabó), cleared and explored by GE Lleida on 9 December 2006.

Characteristics

Location

Leaving the village of Cabó via Carrer Església, follow the paved track of the camí d'Escales; soon, on the left, we find a large water tank. From there we follow the track for 1.3 km, at which point we turn right towards Senyús; from here a high vehicle or better a 4x4 is necessary. We follow the track for 1.03 km from the turn-off to Senyús, or 2.35 km from the water tank; at this point and on the left of the track we will see a homemade grille protecting the entrance, presumably to prevent animals from falling in.

Description

Morphology

Entrance of 0.50x080 metres in the form of a window on the left side of the track, it is covered with a light grille and held with wire. This drops us into a pit of about 6 metres depth; its base, on a slope, opens into a wider pit with a steep slope and some more vertical drops. The vertical drop is -30 metres, with a length of 43 metres.

Hydrology

Once past the low passage we again find the gallery descending with strong draughts on the left wall; after a few metres the ceiling lowers leaving a narrow passage full of sediments, loose stones and water.

Progression

Once at the base, a descending gallery follows where we find a low passage; through the upper part of this passage it also connects with the other side.

History

Cavity cleared and explored by GE Lleida on 9 December 2006.
