Characteristics

Location

On the pla de l'Apotecari, about 120 metres from the boundary line between the municipalities of la Llacuna and Santa Maria de Miralles.

From la Llacuna take the BP-2121 road towards Miralles until reaching the creu de terme. Follow a forest track on the right that passes beside the old quarries and almost always keeps to the shady side of the mountain, where from some points the junction of the Miralles road can be seen. Towards the end the path rises suddenly; before reaching the pla it crosses a power line and up on the plain is the old camí de les Vilates. The pit is about 120 metres before arriving and about 12 metres from the path on the E side.

Description

Morphology

You descend a small shaft 3 metres deep and between 40 and 60 centimetres wide until reaching a chamber, elongated and full of blocks, about 8 metres long. From the base of the shaft, and in a SE direction, after about 2 metres you reach a narrow passage that had to be cleared, which connects with a chamber (5 metres long by 1.40 high and 0.60 to 1.20 wide). Here the deepest point is reached: -4.80 metres.

Speleothems

The chamber is heavily decorated with entirely white formations.

Progression

You descend a small shaft 3 metres deep and between 40 and 60 centimetres wide until reaching a chamber. From the base of the shaft, and in a SE direction, after about 2 metres you reach a narrow passage that had to be cleared, which connects with a chamber.

History

Located by Mr. Josep Vidal, of la Llacuna, who informed members of the Grup de Recerques Espeleològiques de Vilanova i la Geltrú (GREV) that during the month of January 1986 they proceeded with its clearing and full exploration.
