Location

In the Montlleó range, in the municipality of Àger. Going down from the port d'Àger towards Balaguer along the C-12, once past all the entrances to the village of Fontdepou and about 100 metres after kilometre 192, the remains of a bend of the old road are found. Entering along this path, at about 20 metres, and on the same verge, the mouths of the pit are found.

Description

Morphology

It has three openings to the outside. The other gallery, roughly perpendicular to the first, structured on an E-W joint and with an inclination of about 25º to the S, has a length of 47 metres; at its E end there is a small upper floor formed at the expense of the same joint, and the W end is choked by blocks.

Hydrology

At the bottom of a small pit there is a narrow side gallery through which the waters are lost when the cavity acts as a swallow hole.

Progression

Normally the entrance is made through the middle opening, from a drop of about 5 metres that leads to a small room that is no more than a crossing of galleries with an overlying clastic process. An inclined ramp follows that in 25 metres leads to the end, relatively flat. Shortly before there is a small pit.

History

First visited by Francesc Español on 21-5-1956; later by the GE Lleida, on 4-2-1962 and then by the ERE-CEC in 1966, they themselves make the survey on 5-4-1969.
