Characteristics

Location

From Matadepera you must go to Can Solà del Racó and continue for a little more than 200 metres along the track that leads to Can Torres. On the right starts the old path to Can Torres (not to be confused with the track that starts a few metres before) which sets off diagonally and crosses the torrent de Can Solà, continuing parallel to it while turning to the right to enter the torrent del Sot del Canyer. Before crossing it you must climb the left-hand slope (on the right according to the direction of travel) for some 50 metres until you find the pit.

Description

Morphology

The entrance opens at the western end of a joint running E-W. You descend a shaft of about 7 metres, reaching a somewhat complex floor of 10 x 5 metres, the result of the confluence of three different shafts. Climbing back towards the E of the small chamber, the joint can be followed for a further 16 metres to the intersection with another joint running N-S, the point at which a small dome has formed.

History

Known and visited by members of the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa around the decade of the 1920s and mentioned very briefly in the Guia Monogràfica de Sant Llorenç del Munt (1935). It is not until 1952 that members of the GES – CMB begin to visit it very often; they are the first to publish a complete record, although using an incorrect spelling: Avenc de Can Torras.
