Description
Morphology
Through a narrow opening, half blocked by boulders, one enters a concavity of vertical polarity about 15 metres in development. From the mouth it descends about 4 metres to an elongated base where it levels out and, in an ascending direction, rises about 11 metres until the joint becomes impassable.
Progression
Through a narrow opening, half blocked by boulders, one enters the cavity. From the mouth it descends about 4 metres to an elongated base where it levels out and, in an ascending direction, rises about 11 metres until the joint becomes impassable.
Other details
At mid-height on the opposite wall from where the mouth is, there is a non-penetrable fissure that connects with the highest point of la Cova del Mansuet (la Cova del Salnitre).
History
The first data on this small cavity and all the others called accessòries del Salnitre are mentioned for the first time by Llopis i Thomas in their work published in 1953, although it seems they were not explored. During the GE Pedraforca campaign (1971) it was confused with C.1 and they even came to call it a pit SEOG (because of a graffiti with these initials that was at the mouth for years). Later, the ERE-CEC (1988) catalogued it as a pit-cave C.1, when originally it is C.2.
