Caratteristiche

Località

Leaving from the road along the path that leads to les Nou Fonts, on crossing the small bridge over the river, we notice a small marl pit on the right-hand side of the same path. We will have to climb up through numerous overhangs formed by the travertines, until we locate a dry passage (occasionally water flows through it, and the cavity is easy to locate). Arriving at a beautiful waterfall with two pools at its base, easy to climb on the right. Once past it, the entrance passage opens out through an open wood and the cliff becomes visible, where we will find the entrance at its foot.

Morfologia

The entrance, rectangular in shape, gives way to a gallery of identical structure with a short ascending step. The floor is completely covered with blocks, puddingstones and flowstone. Suddenly the ceiling decreases in height, giving way to two parallel crawls of uncomfortable penetration and about 5 metres in length, which join in a relatively spacious chamber. The continuation is through a somewhat more comfortable gallery with a floor covered in sand. On the right-hand side there are several passages, most of them impenetrable, which connect with another gallery parallel to the main one, but of infernal dimensions, along which about twenty metres can be travelled, with an evident but impenetrable final continuation. Back in the main gallery, on reaching the height of the third passage, a bend to the left forces us to ascend among blocks. Unexpectedly we emerge into the most comfortable stretch of galleries in the whole cavity, about 14 metres in length and beautifully decorated. At the far end there is a descending passage of only 2 metres which connects with the base of a small vertical shaft of 4 metres. To the right of this, and as a logical continuation, a rising bedding plane opens up between two strata, which links with the start of a gallery of square section and floor descending in direction. Its dimensions are modest due to the fact that the floor is covered with large blocks, one of which forms a 2-metre rise. Above this obstacle and through a partition of flowstone, one reaches two short chambers with a low ceiling linked by a crawl. At the end of the second chamber an uncomfortable bedding plane gives way to a stretch of somewhat more spacious galleries, but also with a low ceiling, until after a few metres it becomes completely impassable because of a collapse. The total drop is 3 metres (+2/-1).
