Caratteristiche

Località

From l'Estartit we will follow the camí de la Torre Ponça (this path is closed to vehicles during the summer); before reaching the Torre Ponça we will turn right onto an asphalted road until we reach a crossroads already on the plain, we will follow the road to the left until we reach the crossroads where the left branch goes to the Torre Ponça and the right one heads to l'Escala; we will follow the latter and after covering 1,300 metres we will turn right for 50 metres, where we will link up with a track that we will follow to the right, and shortly afterwards we will have to leave the vehicle. We will follow the path in the direction of the cales Pedrosa and Ferriol for 400 metres, where we will find a crossroads that we will follow to the left; after 500 metres we will reach the turn-off for the cala Pedrosa, we will continue in the direction of the cala Ferriol for 250 metres and we will leave the path to head to the right for about a hundred metres in the direction of the cingle del golf de la Morisca; at this point (ETRS89 UTM X:516394; Y:4658416) we will find the rigging of the exit of a climbing route that will serve us to descend by abseiling about sixty metres to a platform; once at this point and looking at the sea, to the right it is convenient to rig a handline of about fifty metres; from here on we find a new handline in very poor condition with very precarious anchors that should be revised, and this will take us to the cavity.

There is another longer and more arduous access: starting from the crossroads where the paths of the cala Pedrosa and the cala Ferriol separate, we will follow to the right the path that descends in the direction of the Cala Pedrosa; almost immediately we will find on the left a faint trail that sets off traversing, but soon it turns right and descends steeply to overcome the drop in the terrain and continues again to the left until it meets the wall of the cliff; the trail continues descending along the base of the cingle, this passage becomes narrower and narrower until almost at the end it climbs a little to leave us at the mouth of the Cau dels Horts de la Pedrosa, just in front of la Foradada in the golf de la Morisca.

We continue traversing on a slight ascent using ledges until we reach the bauma d'en Narcís, which is located precisely halfway between the Cau dels Horts de la Pedrosa and the Pou d'en Narcís.

We continue the traverse with scrambles and ledges hanging over the sea. At one point we will even use a handline rope. Care must be taken not to lose altitude. At approximately level +76, we enter what could be a pseudo-head of a gully or a decompression fissure in the wall; behind the rocky point the Pou d'en Narcís opens up in the form of a trench.

Descrizione

Morfologia

A first down-climbable step of 3.5 metres places us on a ramp 10 metres long, at the end of which is already the cylindrical pit of 66 metres. At level -55 the pit bursts open into a large portal of the cingle and plunges to sea level at level -70.

Ten metres below sea level a platform develops with a hollow that falsely appeared to lead to a submarine gallery; by penduling, or from sea level, one can access a small lateral concavity 3 metres above sea level.

Progressione

It should be noted that as of May 2021 all the fixed riggings in the cavity are unusable due to corrosion; using them represents a mortal danger. It should also be borne in mind that the friction of the rope against the walls causes a continuous fall of small stones and, when you least expect it, some large ones.

Storia

Cavity discovered by Narcís Arbusé, a great connoisseur of the Montgrí, we believe at the beginning of the 2000s. With different companions they explored the cavity (we do not know whether totally or partially), as recorded in his book El Montgrí pas a pas. But it is not until the end of 2006 that they accompany members of the SIE – CEA, who carry out a total exploration and the survey, thus making it known.
