You have to position yourself at the entrance of the marina of Torredembarra and follow the road outside the port. About 130 metres along, an inlet in the cliff leads us to the cave.

Descrizione

Morfologia

It is basically a single gallery a little over 40 metres long and between 8 and 13 metres wide. In addition to the large entrance vault there is a small side access, apparently opened artificially to facilitate fishing with a dip net or octopus hook.

Idrologia

The construction of the port has left the cave well away from the sea that generated it and the waves have been replaced by putrid rainwater. The construction of the port and the filling in of the cove where the mouth opened have turned it into a rainwater pool.

Altri dettagli

The two surveys available were made when the cave was still at sea level. Cultural events are held on the resulting esplanade and spotlights have been installed inside.

Storia

Known and used forever by the people of the area who went there to fish. Visited between 1970/74 by Josep Mª Cervelló (ERE-CEC) and also by Jordi Lloret (GEFOMA), who published the first speleological note. In October 1980 it was surveyed again by members of SIRE – UEC Sants with a rather different interpretation from the first and with an estimate of 59 metres of route.

We have considered it appropriate to catalogue it with the name by which it is known in the area, that is, la Roca Foradada, since it is not a cave that is near a pierced rock, but rather it is the cavity itself that they call la Roca Foradada.
